On April 26, 2018 Rokytnianschina / Rokytne Rayon paid tribute to all liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. Many people gathered in the main alley of the settlement in front of the memorial to the Chernobyl disaster liquidators: the district leaders, representatives of the Rokytne district state administration, the settlement and district councils, employees of institutions, enterprises and organizations, Chernobyl disaster liquidators, settlers from the exclusion zone, pupils, local Media and residents of the district.

After the speeches, all the participants of the meeting bowed their heads in grief and, to the sounds of the Chernobyl bells, observed one minute of silence in tribute to those who sacrificed their lives.

At the end of the meeting, the flowers were placed on a memorable sign for the liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and a memorable picture with the Chernobyl victims of the Rokytne Rayon was taken. Subsequently, district leaders went to the monument to Heroes of Chornobyl, located on the territory of the Rokytne sector of the Emergency Service, and paid tribute to our liquidators of the district.

Zhytomyr dwellers and city visitors will be the first to see the performance-promenade “Letters to an unknown friend from New York”. This was announced during a press briefing by the creative team of the project.

The press briefing was held with the participation of the director and playwright Olga Danyliuk, public leader of NGO “Zhytomyr, make it louder”, Liudmyla Zubko, the co-organizer of the performance-promenade in Zhytomyr, the children-actors from the children’s theatrical collective in the frontline settlement of Novhorodske and the head of the department of culture and tourism of the Regional State Administration, Tetiana Parfentieva.

“The idea of creating a social project was born during volunteer trips to the ATO zone. Our “Letters”; project in 2018 began with a very painful topic – life in the frontline zone. Since the autumn 2017, we, with teenagers from the village of Novhorodske, have been working on telling you about another Donbass”, – Olga Danyliuk told about the project.

Four performances will be shown during two days in Zhytomyr
April 24 – at 16:00 and at 19:00.
April 25 – at 16:00 and at 19:00.

The venue is the hotel “Zhytomyr” (Peremogy square, 6).

Information. “Letters to an unknown friend from New York” is a large-scale Ukrainian social project, the genre is interactive documentation: the real life of frontline settlements in a multimedia performance-promenade.
The director and children-actors managed to create an eloquent performance that helps to understand and feel life during the war.
The performance-promenade intertwines personal and historical, cultural and industrial origins. They appear in a letter from an unfamiliar friend from New York. Especially for the tour, one of the young actors wrote a musical invitation in the rap style. This is the 17-year- old Kyrylo Demianov, who does not tell about life in the frontline zone like a child. The boy lives in Novhorodske, where he plays in the performance-promenade with all children-actors.

The tour will last until May 8 and will be held in the cities of Odessa, Dnipro and Kharkiv.

Today traditional social projects competition for civil society institutions starts in Cherkasy region. Therefore, we call for non-governmental organizations to submit projects Commission’s consideration in accordance with the specified directions.

They were analysed during the first meeting by the Cultural Department of the Regional State Administration, Public Council under the Regional State Administration and others. It took place yesterday in the regional administration.
During this meeting, the list of directions was approved, also the text of the competition announcement was approved.

Thus, the projects should be aimed at:
– project management training and civic activity increasing;
– social adaptation of internally displaced persons, anti-terrorist operation participants and their families at the local level;
– activities in the field of culture, tourism, popularization of the Ukrainian language and folk traditions;
– popularization of an ecological and energy efficient way of living and managing;
– fostering the development of children.

Now they are approved by the relevant decree of the head of the regional state administration. We remind you that the project competition is being conducted within the framework of the regional civil society development program for the period up to 2019. This year we have 1 million UAH for realization. 50 thousand UAH is paid for the annual regional forum of civil society institutions “GRANTuemo changes”, the rest – for the competition for the social projects selection.

Meanwhile, according to the results of the Commission, NGOs are recommended to submit no more than two projects from one organization. Funding for each project should be no more than 100 thousand UAH.

NGO may submit projects by May 25 (inclusive).
The results of the selection will be at the end of June.
